Dean is a Kentucky native, accomplished on both guitar and drums, and grew up listening
to bluegrass, blues and country music. He moved to the west coast in the 80's and
met blues guitarist Mel Brown (Bobby Blue Bland's main guitarist) in Oakland, where
he was also introduced to Luther Tucker and Sonny Rhodes and played in that circuit
for a couple of years. Dean also was an original member of the rockabilly band Levi
and the Rockats.
